OCTOBER 2024
Late October updates
OCTOBER 28, 2024
Here it is, already the end of October, and I find myself posting to the blog for the first time this month! Of course, there are a few reasons, the first of which is the fact that our web host updated/changed their servers and it caused some access issues for updating the site. With the issue identified, we can press forward with blog updates, etc.
October has been a great month, with fall finally starting to make its presence felt. Last night Laurel and I had some cider and we enjoyed watching the light from the sunset turn the mountains into a rose gold. Church has been going well. We participated in an outreach to the homeless in Salt Lake the first weekend of the month. The following Thursday found us on the road to Laurel's hometown to celebrate her dad's birthday with he and the family. During that trip I also filled in for Sunday School and the morning service at their church. (This had been prearranged by the pastor there, as he and the family were traveling that weekend.) We had a good time at Dick and Terri's and Lizzie (our Corgi) was able to experience stairs for the first time. Going up wasn't an issue, but it took her a little while to get used to going down the stairs. Soon she was going up and down them like nobody's business...in fact I think she thought they were really fun!
Another highlight was our Pastor Appreciation dinner this past Saturday evening. Pastor Brandon has a wide variety of "pastorisms" and illustrations that he uses in his messages. Each year, I try to jot these down and compile them just before Pastor Appreciation. I usually try to write these in some kind of a humorous presentation, generally styled as a letter to him. I really enjoy doing it and it usually isn't lacking in the laughter-inducing department. Another of the guys at church had a t-shirt made for Pastor with an illustration on it from one of his sayings. Needless to say it was a very enjoyable evening, between the food, fellowship and the funnies!
