Spring ends and summer begins
JULY 10, 2024
June became quite busy, both at work and at home! Here are a few of the highlights as spring ended and summer began!

Anniversary
Laurel and I celebrated our anniversary by having a nice dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and by staying at the appropriately-named Anniversary Inn. The facility features themed rooms, ours styled with a medieval flair, fittingly called King Arthur's Castle. It was a fun experience and we were glad we tried it out! The following day we were able to enjoy some fun around town, including playing some old video games on a replica Nintendo, complete with an old TV, in one of our local coffee shops. We also tried out a Greek restaurant and ended up by watching The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in the theater!

Reading
Both Laurel and I enjoy reading, so we have both been continuing to consume books as the year progresses. For Christmas, I had purchased some of the Trixie Belden mystery series for Laurel, and I have been reading through those, as well as some others here and there. At some point I'll make a list of what I've read so far this year.

Of foundations and floors
One of the issues we've experienced with our house is some settling of the foundation. As this had happened, we had kept our builder informed. He was able to get a contractor in who raised up the floor by injecting hot industrial foam under the slab. It was amazing to see it all flush again! Later, our builder had his flooring guys come in and replace the LVM planks that had been damaged during the process. By the time it was all done, about half of our main living area had new LVM planks! We are very thankful to the Lord for how He decided to take care of this, and to our builder for being willing to get it fixed!

Family
Summer was merely a week old when we welcomed my Mom, my sister, her husband, and my two nephews to Utah for a visit. Laurel and I were able to take some time off and enjoy having family around. We ate at some favorite restaurants, toured a local chocolate factory, and walked a trail. The nephews both really enjoyed Millie and Lizzie...in fact, I think that's why they wanted to come to Utah! We went to the local Fourth of July celebration, complete with a fly-over by USAF F-35's from Hill AFB. The rest of the day involved hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and relaxation. That night we watched the fireworks from our back patio. Another fun activity we tried before they all had to return home was mini or "putt, putt" golf at a local course. Everyone did well!

Friends and food
This past Monday evening, Laurel and I met up with some great friends, Andy and Natalie, and we went to a restaurant we had never tried before. It is an all-you-can-eat sushi and/or Japanese hot pot place and turned out to be a very fun experience. Andy and Natalie are a hoot, and I think nearly three hours had passed before we went our separate ways. While a little expensive, the quality of the food was very good, and I did my best to bring my "A-Game" to the endless sushi side of things!

Blog housekeeping
You may have noticed there is a new "hero" image for the blog, now reflecting summer! Behind the scenes, I have been doing some work, moving all of the images to their own folder so they didn't clutter up the area on the server where the actual pages are stored. So far it seems to be working well and helps keep things much more organized.

Well, that's a quick update for the moment. Please shoot us an e-mail and let us know how your spring went and what fun things you have been up to! We look forward to hearing from you!
